Dusty and Kelly's precious baby was born on 1-10-12. Lilia Evangeline was born weighing 8lbs even. Dusty guessed her exact weight!!!!!.....and she is gorgeous! We are so excited to have a sweet little niece/cousin in our family! Congrats to Dusty and Kelly! Family Photo

Oldefar Visits

We were so thankful to have "Oldefar" (meaning great-grandfather in danish) travel such a far distance from Denmark to see us. It was truly wonderful to have him stay with us! Unfortunately, the travel was a bit much for him this time and it will probably be his last time in America. We were so happy to see him and yet so sad when he left. Praying God will take good care of him on his journey back home. 3 Generation

Unfortunately, Tristan was sick the day of the kids' Christmas Program at church, but Hazelynn and I were able to make it while daddy stayed home to take care of little buddy. This year we celebrated Thanksgiving with Schubbe side out in Nicollet. The kids always have a great time playing with all the extended cousins. The big hit with the kiddos was singing karaoke.

Our little boy recently turned 2!....and it appears that his favorite thing to do lately is color, color, color....maybe we even have a little artist on our hands.....we are enjoying his masterpieces:) The big boy on his big day.....coloring on his new easel.

Hazelynn is now in her first Dance class and she absolutely LOVES it! What a lucky little 3 yr. old to have your grandma as a Dental Hygienist.....since Hazey is such a cautious little girl, I knew a dental appointment might be a bit of a challenge....but thankfully Grandma Karen was more than happy to have a new little patient:) Here she is "showing" me her teeth:)

One week before our annual Hettinga vacation, we were informed that northern Wisconsin had been hit by a terrible storm knocking down so many trees that we would be unable to reach the cabin we were supposed to go to......so we scrambled to find an alternative place to get together. With the help of some friends, we were able to get a cabin in Crosslake, MN. We were so thankful to have the opportunity to still vacation and see the Larson family.

Perfect Summer Day!

This year we'd like to have thought that the weather was going to be great for our annual Easter Egg hunt......however......it seemed like the longest winter in history. A place that Hans and I like to retreat are the Prayer Cabins in Northern Wisconsin. Living and working in the city can be a drain at times and a visit to the northern woods in a beautiful little 2 person cabin is so awesome......the rules are no electronic divices.....it's strange with no TV, Internet, Phones, etc......lots of reading and reconnecting with the Lord and each other....we enjoyed cooking and hiking in snow......below is the cabin we stayed in.

Feed My Starving Children

Tonight our small group had the opportunity to volunteer at an AWESOME non-profit organization called "Feed My Starving Children". A large group of us were able to package a Rice/Soy/Veggie/Vitamin food mixture for extremely poor children in Haiti. What a humbling experience it was to see a little Boy @14mo. who only weighed 7lbs..... (that's Tristan's age and he weighs 21lbs., in fact he weighed more than that at birth!) After 1mo. of eating this food, this little Boy was so healthy looking, almost a little chubby!.....made me teary.... I can't believe how little these people have! Made me realized what a "rich" society we live in. To put the night in perspective, we filled 48boxes....that's enough food to feed 28 Children for an entire year!!! Makes me want to help more! Praise the Lord for opening up my eyes tonight....there are so many people that need our help out there. I look forward to the next time I am able to volunteer....

In the past, Sunday mornings haven't always been the easiest, since Daddy is usually already at church practicing for Worship, but I have recently noticed this time as becoming more enjoyable...the kids love getting ready for church by dancing to Praise Baby DVD's....so innocent and sweet with big hearts for Jesus:).....we are now learning about Jesus' upcoming Birthday...and finishing up our Advent Calendar with Daddys help, as this is my 1st year.

As most know, the attention span of a toddler is only a few minutes long....so we are ALWAYS looking for new things to do, especially when we are at home.....thanks the Grandma Lynn,
we were able to get our hands on a Jump-o-lene!....and what a hit it is! Although there is typical sibling rivalry, these two are, for the most part, pretty good little buddies....monkey see, monkey do:)

Although we don't get a chance to visit very often, I know my Grandma is so happy when the kids warm up to her enough that she can hold them.....Tristan has usually been pretty good about letting Grandma snuggle him.....in fact, he's becoming more and more of a snuggle bug each day, which we all LOVE:) Grandma with the kiddos....

It doesn't possibly seem like 2001/2002 was all that long ago, but my old roomies and I got together at Applebees one evening. The time span is now starting to age me! Ahhhh! So fun to see my old Friends and catch up....and they all like to tease me about my days of learning to drive a stick shift in the little Ford Aspire......we can't help but remember the time I killed the car in the middle of a four way on campus.....we were definately the coolest girls in school that day!

Big Boy, Big Girl

Tristan now takes it upon himself to climb up into the rocking chair I had as a kid and sit so nicely, even trying to rock himself.....this is big for him since he's on the constant go and doesn't usually sit for longer than a moment.....also his "Finn"......whom we call "Puppy".....has become his favorite little buddy:) Hazelynn's new fun task is to "wash dishes".......I am loving the fact she likes to help Mama so much.....and is so proud when told she's "such a big girl now":) Her cute little apron, compliments of Grandma Lynn and her sewing skills:)

Sister Spa Night

Since living with Emily, we have made a habit of "Gilmore Girl nights". Our 1st one was all out with a full facial, deep hair conditioning, and pedicures......since then, it's either Coffee and Gilmore Girls or Pedicures with the show......an enjoyable time to cherish...our one and only year to experience living with each other. It's been fun to get to know my sister better:)

Tristan's First Official Haircut

To be honest, I have actually cut Tristan's hair about 3-4 times already and he's just under a yr. old. The kid has tons of hair....it's great!.....but I've reached a point, where it's too hard for me to cut it when he's wiggling everywhere.....so here we are at "Kids Hair" getting his 1st official haircut. I was actually expecting him to cry since Hazelynn was so scared for hers....but.....Tristan actually enjoyed his cut! He enjoyed the toys, the movie and the cherry sucker....the kid was a natural....

1st Family Vacation!

Our 1st family vacation was to an awesome indoor waterpark in Wisconsin Dells:) Actually, it was 3 water parks in one.....a wave pool, and two awesome water forts......we had a great time! Although the kids were a bit overwhelmed at times, they seemed to enjoy themselves...here they are discovering what's ahead....

One of Hazelynn's favorite girls is Kiley. Although the age of the 2's can be hard because of the "mine" phase.....their last playtime together was great!....I don't think I heard the word "mine" once! In fact they were having so much fun together that they forgot to listen and even earned themselves a little "time out" together from blasting books across the room. It was hard not to giggle a bit myself....and even more fun was the milk drinking contest at lunch:) (for those of you who know Hazelynn, she's not a milk drinker-but around Kiley she is) These two are easier to babysit together than alone since they do such a great job of entertaining each other:)

I wish you could have seen the cuteness in this real-life scene...they were "reading" to each other after I had read them several books together:)

I love how she describes the the people who are up with Technology:) Uncle Dan, is our "Techy" guy in the family. We call him for all our computer needs....and he always seems to know the answer. Unfortunately the battery on my camera died so I wasn't able to get a picture of Hazelynn riding Carousel.....and since our cell phones refused to work....it took us a while to reach Dusty and Kelly....anyways.....here's a couple photos. Mr. Lovewell Concert

For Hans' Birthday, I decided to take him to a "Mercy Me" concert at the State Fair. For those of you that don't know, Mercy Me is a Christian rock band. We also saw Jeremy Camp and Joel Hansen play. The concert was amazing!......The weather was cool.....the clouds were rolling overhead....the message was powerful.....God really makes Himself known at an event like that. It's hard to put into words what you walk away with.....a sense of renewal....and a reminder that our Lord is what's most important in our lives. Reminds me to make that connection with God, Daily.

Hazelynn's 1st Haircut!

I could not capture a proper picture of Hazelynn's cute, but scraggly curls in the back....I hung on to them as long as I could, until I realized a healthy haircut might actually help her hair to grow faster.....I knew the task was not going to be fun since she hardly lets me comb her hair.....I decided to try "Kids Hair", since they must be the experts. The entire experiece was less than 5 minutes long...and I was there with her each step of the way.....but she was not happy about the whole idea.....I tried to make it the best I could.....so here is the result.... ...we got to keep her little curls, of course, in a special envelope for her baby book....

At the end I think she realized it wasn't so bad.....here, she's trying to get Auntie Em to give her a few more M&M's:) We love you Hazel Belle.....and your haircut is beautiful:)

Dallas Trip

After many attempts at getting together over the past couple years....my college girl friends and I were finally able to reunite in Dallas, Tx.....where Erika lives! Our last get together was 6 yrs ago in New York. We had a great weekend and it almost seemed like no time had past.....and yet many babies have been born and we are all now married......so fun to catch up after all this time! Our 1st stop in Dallas was to get pedicures:) We stayed at a huge hotel called the Gaylord Texan. It had several shops, restaurants, a spa, indoor/outdoor pool, etc. A great place to relax....Here we all are below: Me, Leah, Marisa, Erika, Autumn and Courtney.

Capturing the month my month is a little harder when you have two kids.....time goes by so quickly....you have to make that concious effort to remember those dates......Here's Tristan at about 8 1/2 mo. of age. I have to admit, he's been such an easy baby to take care of.....so smiley and happy all the time and not much fussing at all. We are so blessed to have him in our family:) Oh and by the way....he's fully crawling by now:)

Storm Season

On June 17th, Minnesota experienced several severe storms including multiple tornado touchdowns.....the weather was so strange that day we captured a couple photos. It will be one to remember...I believe we all slept in the basement that night.... The clouds were certainly eery.....

.....reminds me of a scene from the wizard of oz....

Thankfully, we had no storm damage and were safe in our basement.....

So this is the turn out of our summer flower garden. I have to say that it was mostly planted by my mother-in-law, Karen and Hans' Grandmother, Dawn. They did SO much to help us out and it looked great! I will only take a little credit in saying that I did the fencing in the back.....I have a lot to learn yet. Also, the Bicycle planter was my Mother's day present from Hans and the kids. Soooo, a big THANK YOU to Karen and Dawn:)

Hans' Grandpa from Denmark was here just in time to meet little Castiel along with Kurt and Karen for the first time.....we were excited that they were able to visit us too.
